Alek, just Alek, an incredible photographer from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His very consistent portfolio is presented in a neat and clean website.

He works mainly with commercial / advertising, editorial, portraiture, fashion and a little of nude, carrying along his career solid names like Taxi Europe, Rexona, Volkswagen, Heineken, DDB Amsterdam, Converse, Wallpaper Magazine, Maxim, Playboy, Vogue, Men’s Health and the list goes on.

Keep in mind his website shows selected works distributed in categories but the heavy amount of images is contained within Archives, worth seeing!

By the way, I like those short names like Alek, Platon, Miro, Rancinan…

The Human Dogs of Tobias Schult

Tobias Schult is a german photographer based in Berlin. He is specialized on people and recently tried a step further: photographing Human Dogs.

The deal was actually photographing a dog doing human things. Couldn’t be funnier. There were 30 dogs photographed and, according to him, “the hats were much more challenging, but also funny”.

In his Facebook fanpage, Tobias shows some making ofs this serie. There, a fan comments: that shot with the basket ball must have been a lot of fun without composing. The photographer responds: the shot wasn’t hard, searching for a dog with human hands that could spin a ball was hard!

Capture is an online show hosted by famous photographer Mark Seliger and aired by Reserved Channel on YouTube. In every episode, Mark invites successful photographers and other artists to talk about photography and the stories behind images.

In episode 6, Mark Seliger joins famous dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and war photographer Ben Lowy. Baryshnikov shares his experiences in front of camera and the steps he took in photography. Ben Lowy talks about what being in conflicts in Lybia and Iraq looks like.

Through Provincial Japan, the italian photographer Guido Castagnoli takes us out of both imaginations of frenzy Tokyo or large cities and bucolic traditional temples, places with cherry trees and those beautiful sceneries. The absence of people on the immaculate sceneries leads us to believe that the cities were forgotten recently, not yet having been marked by time.

Issue # 09 of brazilian magazine Photo Graphia brings chaos and order in aerial photos of Cassio Vasconcellos and tells through the lens of Alexandre Severo the story of three sibilings born albino in Pernambuco from an afro-american family. It also brings the absence of victims of stray bullets in scenes of Anna Kahn, the amusing story of Breno Rotatori’s grandmother who won a camera from the photographer at age 82, the landscapes and characters of Serra Catarinense under the selective focus of Claudio Edinger and persistence of nature in urban landscapes by the sight of Pedro Motta.

New York in Black

Despite of the bad side Hurricane Sandy has brought recently in the Caribbean and the United States, many people has witnessed what happened with an aesthetical view.

French photographer Christophe Jacrot was in New York during the storm and photographed the city plunged into darkness, only lit by the moon or car headlights.

The pictures can be acquired in prints of 33 x 50 inches on his website.

Landscapes from a color blind point of view

Killian Schönberger is a 28 years old photographer from Germany and presents a consistent volume of stunning landscapes on his 500px account. He is color blind and can’t make distinctions between green and red, a fact that could go in the opposite way for landscape photography. But it seems that makes no difference, or better, counts positively in the final result of well composed, crystal sharp and colorful images.

If you’re on the Internet and likes/works on photography, you probably heard about Zack Arias. If you don’t, you should know more about him. He for sure has much to teach and is around everywhere, online and offline, with tons of valuable content.

On his online portfolio, he got a self-explanatory section called WTF that brings shots that went out of control. Shots taken by pure reflex or pure trick. Moments that most photographers have passed through.

Jill Greenberg has updated her website, changing from a funky flash-based version to a clean Tumblr account. And her work is so vast that you keep scrolling and scrolling and the website don’t stop generating thumbnails.

Jill is famous for her portraits of children crying. And also for the portraits of animals, using a seemed light schema.

She is focused on advertising and entertainment, having worked for huge clients like Epson, Burger King, Toshiba, HBO, Animal Planet, A&E and Fox. Photographed many celebrities we already know and created movies and series posters like Ted, When in Rome, Lady Killer, Dexter, Charlie’s Angels and many others. Her work has been published in known magazines like Wired, Time, Entertainment Weekly, Outside, Chicago Tribute Magazine and many others.

The pictures are full of tags, organized in many categories. You can also browse her work based on people’s names. So… let’s cut the crap and go straight to her well designed portfolio to see more.
